Seaview Boatyard

In January Sage was hauled-out at Seaview West to get new bottom paint, a through hull for the new B&G speed/depth sounder and to replace the stuffing box. Unfortunately the prop shaft flange that connected the shaft to the transmission was fused to the shaft and after 3 days of slaving away we had to give up and call in the professionals. They also could not get it off and the only solution turned out to be to cut the shaft and get a new one. Since there was no other option we moved forward with it. A few days later I got another phone call from the yard that they had run into another snag: In order to remove the shaft the rudder has to be dropped but the quadrant was so corroded that the bolts came off and the quadrant had to be cut off. In the end a long weekend in the yard turned into 6 weeks…
