Gulf Islands and Vancouver

After a short sail from Roche to Sidney we cleared customs into Canada without problems. Veit and Christoph came aboard, we got some more provisions and went off to anchor in Bedwell Harbor for the night. Even though the Gulf Islands are usually prime cruising grounds and very busy in summer we had the anchorage to ourselves. Probably too early in the season. The next day we took it easy and left the anchorage only around noon. The goal was to get close to Dodd Narrows for an early morning crossing. The wind blew from the south and we flew up Trinchomali channel with full sails. Our anchorage for the night was in North Cove on Thetis Island which is an hour from Dodd Narrows. We set the alarm clock to 4am to reach the Narrows by 6am for a crossing at slack. Since we had skipped breakfast in the morning we dropped anchor just outside Nanaimo and toasted some bagels. The wind forecast for the Strait of Georgia was 15-25 kts from the South which turned out to be pretty accurate and through choppy seas we sailed without tacking once straight into Vancouver Harbor, dropping anchor in front of Stanley Park for lunch.
